The Most Expensive City of Living in Papua, Timika City

Timika is the Capital of Mimika Regency which various parties have proposed to become candidates for the capital of the Central Papua Province. This city is a city that has a high standard of living for Papua. How not, this city is the center of mining activities that we often know, namely the PT gold mining industry. Freeport Indonesia.

Mimika Regency has two large tribes, namely the Kamoro Tribe (Mimika Wee) and the Amungme Tribe. The Kamoro inhabit coastal areas, while the Amungme Tribe is in mountainous areas. In addition, there are five kinship tribes, namely the Moni Tribe, Dani, Nduga, Damal and the Lanny Tribe.

Timika is called one of the heterogeneous classified areas, because besides the two large tribes and five kinship tribes, as well as other tribes from indigenous territories in Papua, such as Lapago, Meepago, Saireri, Tabi, Domberai and Bomberai

Access to the City of Timika can be reached by air and sea. This is because Mimika Regency has international airports and ports connecting other regions in Papua and various regions in Indonesia.

The airport in Mimika is named Mozes Kelangin. The airport serves small-bodied aircraft such as Asian One, Smart Air, Susi Air and others.

Small-bodied aircraft serve flights to the mountainous regions of Papua, such as Nabire, Peak, Intan Jaya, Yahukimo and others. Likewise in the South of Papua, such as Asmat and Mappi. Large-bodied aircraft such as Garuda Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air, Batik Air, Lion Air, Wings Air, Airfast serve flights outside Papua, and intra Papua.

Here are the reasons why the City of Timika is a city whose standard of life is classified as expensive:

  1. Residence

The most important thing when we visit or monitor to a new city is to look for a place to stay. The cost of rent varies greatly from the price range of Rp.600,000 to Rp1,000,000 per month depending on location, occupancy area, and facilities provided. However, for workers the price range is more expensive than Rp1,500,000 to Rp2,000,000 per month.

  • Eating and Beverage

Needs are no less important, it is the basic needs of humans, food and drink. Costs incurred for one person vary greatly while living in Timika. For migrants who often eat out certainly costs a lot that ranges from Rp15,000 to Rp25,000 depending on the place. At such costs, it is not much different when we eat in western Indonesia.

  • Transportation costs

To support mobility in daily life as tourists or migrants, surely we need transportation. Costs incurred vary greatly depending on the purpose and type of vehicle. Transportation in Timika is complete compared to other Papua cities. For the cost of City Transport or angkot can reach Rp.5000 for one road.

  • Communication

The development of the times has grown rapidly and of course sophisticated tools have been found. Communication tools are the tools most often used to connect with your family or relatives. The cost to buy pulses in Timika you must set aside money around Rp.200,000 to Rp.300,000 per month to buy pulses. Please note, not all providers are available in Papua.

Of course, the prices above are uncertain because they depend on the lifestyle and needs of each individual. But it does not close our possibility to visit and settle in the beautiful city of Timika.
