The Beautiful Island of Papua Part II

1. Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat, popular for its breathtakingly beautiful sea, can be one of finest options you can look into while planning your trip. Located in West Papua, the island of Raja Ampat finely resembles the shape of a tortoise. The 4,6 million hectares expanse of this island is home to 75% of the world’s sea species.

You can imagine snorkeling, watching the sight of beautiful fishes swimming in the fine sea water, among the colorful sea corals which pleases your eyes. If you have visit Bali before, Raja Ampat becomes the next must visit on your travel list.

2. Wafsarak Waterfall

Interested in visiting a little piece of heaven hidden in the depths of Papua? You can visit Warsafak Waterfall located in the north of Biak, West Papua. The location of the waterfall is hidden between flourishing greeneries of Papua. Its water is very clear, surely perfect for swimming. The refreshing air in the waterfall cleanses your lungs as you breathe in.

The 10 meter tall waterfall is perfect to visit when you want to release your pent up stresses in the middle of the forest. The access to this waterfall is fairly easy to access, you can even hear the loud sound of its waterstream as it is located near the side of the road.  

3. Balliem Valley

Rows of Honai, the Papuan traditional house standing firm on top of the grounds, the beautiful villages on the foot of Jayawijaya Mountain, and the blue sky is ready to greet you by the mountain range. It’s commonly known that Mount Jayawijaya is the highest mountain in Indonesia. If you want to visit this mountain as a part of your trip, then you must visit Balliem Valley. The fresh air and panoramic scenery of this place is a pleasure to see.

Located 27 km away from Wamena City, the valley spans up to 1.600 km wide. The valley houses 3 different tribes that reside in the area: Dani tribe, Yali tribe, and Lani tribe. The indigenous culture around this area is still fairly preserved. There are even cultural festivals held within this destination.
