The 10 “new” Bali’s – Introduction

As previously mentioned in my article, there are numerous people who refer to Indonesia as Bali.  There is a lot more diversity to Indonesia than just Bali though.

The 10 new Bali’s project was proposed in 2016 by the Ministry of Tourism.

What is exciting is that President Jokowi relaxed the visa regulations for many countries (more than 160) around 2016 where an individual could enter the country without having to stand in a long queues and pay for the appropriate visa.   I do believe it was an excellent decision to allow the promotion on this beautiful country and give more access to those who want to explore this diverse, rich cultural country. The visa free entries allow visitors 30 days in Indonesia.

So what is the 10 New Bali’s project all about?  10 new destinations in Indonesia have been assigned  to this project. The intention is show that Indonesia does not just include Bali, improve tourism in the country and increase the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

The 10 New Bali’s are going to include:

  1. Borobudur Temple (Central Java)
  2. Morotai (North Maluku)
  3. Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara)
  4. Lake Toba (North Sumatra)
  5. Belitung (Sumatra)
  6. Thousand Islands (Jakarta)
  7. Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi)
  8. Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara)
  9. Mount Bromo (East Java) and
  10. Tanjung Lesung (Banten)

President Jokowi wanted to have more attention given to the project so he chose the following 4 destinations as a priority to get the project started.

  1. Lake Toba
  2. Labuan Bajo
  3. Borobudur
  4. Mandalika

From Sumatra in the west to to East Nusa Tenggara in the east, from huge lakes and volcanoes to the Komodo dragon, I will share more details information about these exotic places that Indonesia has to offer in the next several articles.
