I be a little of envious of others some days. Here I am, sittin’ in my small livin’ room typin’ about my savin’ for my dream vacation in Indonesia, when there be one person with enough money to buy Twitter for $44 billion.
The weather be startin’ to warm up a bit here, so right now, I wouldn’t mind sippin’ an ice-cold fruit juice on one of the many beautiful beaches in West Papua. If ya don’t know why I didn’t say ‘beer’ or ‘cocktail’, read the linked article My last few posts have been quite ‘heavy’, so I’m gonna do somethin’ a little lighter for y’all today.
I know I have written a few pieces about the different beaches all across West Papua Province, but as usual, the more I be researchin’, the more new stuff I find myself addin’ to my endless bucket list of things I wanna do ‘n see when I get there one day.
I mentioned in the same article I linked earlier that I fly solo when I do the vacation thing, but my niece pointed out that sometimes people with kids also wanna know what activities they can do with their young uns. Beaches in general be a cheap way to keep the kids entertained if ya ask me, but not all beaches in West Papua are easily accessible, like Triton Bay for example, ’cause y’all need to be takin’ a boat to get there. Kaironi Beach, like Maruni Beach is situated close to the capital city of West Papua, Manokwari. What makes it a great place to visit with ya kids is that it is a beach that forms part of a turtle conservation program in the area. From what I have been able to find out, the Indonesian government is very pro-conservation. Y’all be able to see different types of these reptiles, includin’ leatherbacks ‘n lekang turtles, which will be a treat for adults ‘n kids alike I reckon. Get the young ‘uns even more hyped up by havin’ them watch Finding Nemo before ya leave for vacation; keep ’em occupied by havin’ ’em search for a Crush lookalike.
The temperatures all year round at Kaironi Beach be in the low 80’s (Fahrenheit) durin’ the day ‘n in the high 70’s in the evening, so it be a great way to cool down no matter what the time of the day be. It’s been a while since I’ve offered some handy vacation tips; no time like the present, right?
When visitin’ the beach, ‘specially with kids:
- Keep ‘n eye on ’em, kids be sneaky little critters sometimes.
- Wear sandals to the beach; take ’em off once you’re at your chosen spot.
- Sunscreen…
- Watch out for tsunamis. Just kiddin’! If y’all see the water recedin’ into the distance, it’s probably too late for ya anyway. Countries, like Indonesia, that be affected by seismic activity will issue early enough warnings to both the locals and us touristy folks to do whatever be necessary to stay safe.
Right y’all, have a great weekend! I’m gonna go grab me a beer, seein’ as I ain’t in Indonesia yet
